Gear review of the Man-PACK 2.0 Stalker
Not all packs are created equal as I have learned and we all pretty much know by now. There are specialty packs for every situation, every style of hunt or types of traveling. The Man-PACK is one of those packs that for me, fills in the gap between all of them.
As hunters, we tend to look at packs, backpacks or any bag differently than others. We want something that is designed for us. Something that has a place for our specific gear. When I first saw the Man-PACK, I will admit, it wasn’t something I thought I could get much use out of. But after talking with the owner Aaron Tweedie, he convinced me that I would use this more than any other pack. Well, he was right.
I saw the Man-PACK as something to carry my laptop in while I never traveled the country or something I would need to drag my work home with me every night. Both things I really don’t need. But when I really started thinking about the design of the pack and what that was really intended for, the ideas of how I could use it really started showing up. No it not a hunting pack that has a spot for all my gear or a tackle bag that will hold all my fishing gear. It’s a pack that will do a bit of everything and make it easier for me to get to what I need easily and quickly.
The Man-PACK 2.0 Stalker ended up being a great pack that I can use for a lot of my quick needs. For fishing or working in the woods, it turned out to be a great option to carry my small amount of gear. While fishing, I was able to grab a full tray out of my large tackle box and just carry it in the Man-PACK as I walk around bank fishing. The specific design purpose of the Man-PACK is for the quick and easy access into the pack to grab the items you need without taking the whole pack off. This design works perfect. Same thing for heading out in the timber checking trails and hanging trail cameras. I could carry multiple cameras in the pack and easily get to them when I needed to hang without removing the pack. Glad I had the pack because both cameras I took out that day didn’t work anymore and had to carry them for the rest of the hike until I got home and threw them away.
The Man-PACK 2.0 Stalker does offer many options for your daily needs, but it won’t replace my more specific hunting pack. The size and shape does offer limitations for what I like to take in the stand with me and it’s not a pack that’s going to strap tightly to your body for that heavy all day hike. But I do like the pack and I will continue to use it for my in between needs.
